About Jackson County Florida

I truly believe Jackson County is one of Florida's best kept secrets. We are located approximately 55 miles west of the state capital, Tallahassee and 55 miles north of Panama City, on the Gulf of Mexico. Transportation is easy as the county is divided east - west by Interstate 10 and north – south by US Hwy 231.

We are a rural county populated by some of the finest people walking the earth. Among the Spanish Moss draped Oak trees, you will find some of the most beautiful Historic Homes left in Florida. Jackson County’s thriving agriculture business ranges from Cattle & Horse Farms to row crops such as Peanuts, Cotton, and Grain.

Fishing in and around Jackson County Florida

Fishing in and around Jackson County Florida Bream on Dead Lakes If you are a fisherman, whether it be an avid one or an occasional one, we have the places for you. For fresh water fishing let's start in the western side of Jackson County with Cowarts Creek and Marshall Creek. These creeks are located just below the Alabama State line and approximately 9 miles north of Marianna, Florida. Fishermen have been known to catch catfish, bream, bass, and, at times, mullet in these waters. The two creeks are also part of the Chipola River which rises in Southeast Alabama and flows southward for 80 miles all the way to the Apalachicola River. There are so many fishing holes and landings on the Chipola River that you have to "come see to believe."

The eastern side of Jackson County has the Chattahoochee River which starts in the mountains of Northeast Georgia and flows through Jackson County, passing by Neals Landing, Buena Vista Landing, Parramores Landing and on down to Sneads, Florida and Lake Seminole. Lake Seminole is home to several Bass Tournaments every year. Most weekends, you will find the lake dotted with fishermen trying their luck.
